I love watercolor washes that flow from one color to the next so I decided to see if I could replicate it with Copic markers on synthetic Yupo paper. I wanted the colors to be bright and intense so I chose colors from the Copic fluorescent family – FYG2, FB2, FV2.
Background for a poster I am working on for a conference on Africa. Copic ink, Colorless Blender and Ranger Gold Metal Mixative on Yupo paper.
The background is a variety of copic inks in reds, oranges and yellows on Yupo paper. After I applied some abstract patterns, I placed a stencil on top and and tapped in some Colorless Blender. “Gratitude” is hand lettered with a Copic medium brush pen on manila folder paper and then stained and inked with reds and purples and a Vintage Photo brown from Distress.
The first layer of the background is Copic ink on Yup0 paper. On top of that I stamped the new Elizabeth background stamp with Ranger Carnation Red Archival Ink. The word love was die cut with the new die in the Laura’s Love Set from Simon Says Stamp out of red fun foam and Simon Says Stamp Surf blue that was inked over with the Carnation Red ink. All of this was mounted on a Hero Arts card base.
I applied a number of layers various shades of blue Copic ink on to Yupo paper and used a sea sponge to create patterns in the ink. After it was completely dry I used the Celestial Copper Delicata pigment ink with the Holiday Floral – Bold Print background stamp. I love the contrast and the way the florals float on the sea of blues.
