Watercolor plaid

watercolor plaid!

Plaid pattern on Arches cold pressed watercolor paper. I love the transparency and the way the colors look when they overlap each other.

Watercolor warm ups – Flowers

flower warm-ups

Working on some floral watercolor warm-ups with Dawn Woleslagle in the Online Card Classes, Watercolor: Intermediate Techniques.  This is Fabriano paper (amazing!) and Gansai Tambi watercolors.

30 Day Coloring Challenge – Day 13

I love to make color bursts with alcohol ink on yupo paper so when I saw Sandy Allnock do something similar  with Brusho watercolor pigment powders I had to give it a go.  I love the variety of textures you can get from either the amount of water or the composition of the pigment.  The fun part is that you are never quite sure what is going to happen!

The background is a variety of copic inks in reds, oranges and yellows on Yupo paper.  After I applied some abstract patterns, I placed a stencil on top and and tapped in some Colorless Blender. “Gratitude” is hand lettered with a Copic medium brush pen on manila folder paper and then stained and inked with reds and purples and a Vintage Photo brown from Distress.
