For our last project in Creative Chemistry 103 we let the alcohol inks splatter! I have done this in the past by just blowing on the drops of ink or using a straw but today we used canned air on the Yupo paper – so much fun!
In Creative Chemistry 103 we let the alcohol inks flow with these little landscapes. After creating the sky, we made the land portion by applying ink directly to the Yupo paper and moving it around – for this piece I used a straw to move the mountains and hills.
Today in Creative Chemistry 103, after we created a background of alcohol ink on Yupo paper, we stamped an image with archival ink and then applied color by painting with the alcohol ink.
I love applying the ink this way!
Today in Creative Chemistry 103, after we created a background of alcohol ink on Yupo paper, we embossed the Yupo paper and then wiped away some of the ink to make to reveal the emerging embossed design.
After we created a background with alcohol ink on Yupo paper in Creative Chemistry 103, we used stencils as guides to remove ink with alcohol ink blending solution.
I used reds, purples and oranges and continued with the Halloween theme. 🙂
Creative Chemistry 103 is continuing the exploration of alcohol inks from 101 and 102, this time using the wonderful, synthetic Yupo paper.
The alcohol ink on the Yupo paper reacts with the Archival Ink to achieve this terrific effect.
This episode of Creative Chemistry 103 had us experimenting with Distress Crayon on top of Collage Medium to achieve different effects. I took the spooky route – so much fun!
Creative Chemistry 103 explored another way to use Distress Crayons as a resist. The interesting thing is that one of the ways you can apply the crayons is as watercolor paint but after the crayons are dry, they can function as a resist against Distress Ink so you can ink right over the image and add water as you would to many Distress Ink techniques without it reacting to the image.
The things you can do with Distress Crayons in Creative Chemistry 103 never end!
In Creative Chemistry 103 we used gesso as the surface for our Distress Crayons. Then we applied several stencils.
I had never thought about using gesso on paper!
Creative Chemistry 103 had us combining Opaque Texture Paste with Distress Crayons again but this time we used a stencil.
I love the rich look and feel this combination of materials and mediums.
Distress Grit-Paste has come to Creative Chemistry 103! After you apply the grit-paste and let it dry, you can colorize it with Distress Ink, Crayon, Paint, or Stain. I used crayons for the dirt effect below.
I love how I was able to make this look like it fell in my flower bed and was there for a while before I realized it.
