Rainbow Rose

rainbowrose

I had just ordered some rainbow roses for someone for Valentine’s Day when artist Sandy Allnock posted a rainbow rose image she had colored on her blog! I did not have the stamp that she used but I did have a wonderful rose stamp from an artist named Roi in Korea.  I stamped the image with Ranger Archival Black ink on Hammermill paper. The flower is colored with multiple layers of Copic markers listed below.

I will pop this on a card base just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Flower floral

The flower is colored with Copic marker (image from a Copic workshop all about flowers!) and topped off with Distress Ink (vintage photo). The tag is a new heavy duty stock by Tim Holtz.  I used Distress Stain (tarnished brass, mowed lawn, crushed olive) and then stamped the Hero Arts Holiday Floral – Bold Prints over the top with Ranger’s Carnation Red Archival Ink. On top of that I added some additional Distress Ink (carved pumpkin, mowed lawn, vintage photo).

Creative Chemistry 101: Watercolor with markers

A new project from the second week of the Creative Chemistry series online class. You can check it out at Online Card Classes. For this project, we first stamped images onto watercolor paper.  To color them we used Distress Markers.  The top image was colored with markers on dry paper and then blended with a water brush; the middle image was colored with markers on wet paper; the bottom image was colored on wet paper, dried, and then more colored marker was added on top of that.

It is great to be able to get so much detail together with the watercolor wash.

Creative Chemistry 101: Watercoloring with re-inkers

Below is a project from the second week of the Creative Chemistry series online class. You can check it out at Online Card Classes. For this project, we stamped an image onto watercolor paper.  To color it, we used the ink refills or re-inkers for the Distress stamp pads and a watercolor brush.

I really love the way the ink reacts to the to the water and gives you the vibrant and unexpected blends.
