The ladies at Hand Lettered Design have come out with a new course – Intermediate Lettering – Flourishing & Layout! Two of the biggest questions, once you start lettering are: Where do I add flourish and How do I Layout the Words? This new course is designed to answer both of those questions. I loved the beginning courses I took with Lisa and Addi so I am really looking forward to this course as well.
Our last lesson in Chalk Art 101 focused on laying out a design and putting it all together – print, script, borders, flourishes, banners! Can’t wait to create some more chalk art!
Today Chalk Art 101 was all about the flourish! A beautiful way to fill in space and frame your lettering.
After I did many drills on the script alphabet, I got some tips on the well-placed (and fun!) flourish in Intro to Hand Lettering & Faux Calligraphy. Awesome!
Today in Creative Chemistry we made Shabby Chic with Distress. We embossed a pattern with Distress Embossing Ink on a black, Distress painted piece ( I made mine out of grungeboard), painted over it with a light color of Distress Paint and then rubbed off some of the paint to show the pattern. Pretty cool!
For this Creative Chemistry project we applied a selection of alcohol ink colors to Alcohol Ink Cardstock with the Ranger ink applicator tool to cover the card. We then put a stencil on top of the card and applied Blending Solution. We removed the stencil and when the card was dry we stamped images on top with Archival Ink.
The faded layer helps to give the image a holographic effect – love it!
