Layers and layers of flowers in India ink and water for Alisa Burke’s “Inky Blooms” class!

Warming up for Alisa Burke’s “Inky Blooms”! I love these micro classes she teaches as they show tips and techniques about media I have not extensively worked with and it’s fun!

I completed the last piece for Alisa Burke’s “Acrylic Blooms” - Abstract and loose with a brush!

Today I kicked it up a notch as Alisa Burke would say in “Acrylic Blooms”! I outlined everything and then added some additional details with a brush and India ink.

Day 2 on this piece – added lots of layers of color with Alisa Burke in “Acrylic Blooms”! I experimented with a variety of brushes as well. We are not done yet!

Beginning a new exercise with Alisa Burke in “Acrylic Blooms”! Oh, and this time I’m using a brush!

Forays into finger-painting #2 with Alisa Burke in “Acrylic Blooms”! For this piece I used watercolor paper. I finger painted a background, let it dry, and then finger painted the flowers and foliage on top of that. After everything dried, I used a Copic Gasenfude marker to do the line work.

Forays into finger-painting with Alisa Burke in “Acrylic Blooms”! The flowers and the leaves are painted on mixed media paper in acrylic paint with, yes, my fingers! The black line work is done using India ink applied with the brush. Painting this way is extremely messy but also extremely fun!

These flowers are done with two different types of pastel. The first layer is pan pastel – a super soft, smooth and creamy medium that you can apply with a sponge, brush or even your finger. On top of the pan pastel, I added some details with chalk stick pastel. Mixing the pastel media with Alisa Burke in “Pastel Blooms”!

To the pastel flowers I added some line work using India ink in some cases and acrylic paint in others to test the difference. Experimented with loose line work and some control the line work. Also added some greenery with acrylic paint! Yay to mixing the media with Alisa Burke in “Pastel Blooms”!
