Tiny Gilded Turkey

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Right in time for Thanksgiving I am excited to offer you my first holiday card – the tiny gilded turkey!  The cards are 3.5 x 5 (envelope included) and are blank inside making them perfect to send as well wishes for the holiday or thank you to your host and/or hostess for the festive day.  The turkey image is from a vintage letterpress block on my vintage letterpress machine.  Each one is individually hand printed on Crane Lettra paper.  You can feel the imprint of the image pressed into this lush paper, giving you pause, because this feels like something special.

Love Framed

loveframed

I die cut Lipstick Red cardstock from Simon Says Stamp with their new release, Flowing Vine Collage. I finished off the red piece with Stitched Rectangles by Tim Holtz.  The blue green and the black base are from Hero Arts. I hand lettered “Love” in the opening and then put it all together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

I have added this card to my Etsy shop here.

Thank you

thankyou

For this card I wrote out the Thank You using a Tombow brush pen in black ink and then cut around the words.  Using the new Elinor Background stamp from Simon Says Stamp, I stamped over the top of the words using Broken China Distress Ink. Next I layered various additional colors of Distress Ink, Seedless Preserves, Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo. I spritzed it all with water and applied some heat to set everything.

The base of the card is from Hero Arts and coordinated perfectly with the Broken China ink. I also used Distress Ink on the card base, Broken China and Vintage Photo, and then spritzed that with water and dabbed with a towel.  I really like how the coated card base reacted with the Distress Ink and water.

When everything was dry, I used a Ranger collage stick to apply the words to the base and Glossy Accents to apply the Mermaid sequins from Lucy’s Cards, an exclusive from Hero Arts.

I have added this card to my Etsy shop here.

Coloring with White

fullsizerender-65

I was inspired to do this piece by a recent trip to the Getty Villa, built to replicate a Roman villa by John Paul Getty to house his collection of antiquities. It is a wonderful space to spend time with ancient art. One of the rooms in the Villa is called the basilica, which, in ancient times was constructed as part of a private house used for gatherings or worship. The vaulted ceiling of the basilica at the villa is decorated with intricate stuccowork patterns modeled after a house in Pompeii.  For this piece I used texture paste and a fabulous stencil from StampersAnonymous and Tim Holtz (THS032). I experimented with some shading with marker which I hope to post later.

I pounced alcohol inks in green and metallic gold on to Yupo paper.  I found the die cut leaves at Target and colored some of them with Distress. Putting some foam under the Yupo, I adhered it to some Neenah Desert Storm card stock. For the “thanks” sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, I used Ranger Carnation Red Archival Ink and experimented stamping it directly onto a piece of foam. The card is finished with an acorn accent from Little B.

Hello Ranunculus!

fullsizerender-64

For the background I first applied some pink and purple alcohol inks to Yupo paper.  When it was dry, I stamped the ranunculus (Simon Says Stamp) with red Archival ink (Ranger).  I made the pink ranunculus by wiping off the red ink with a cloth before it dried.  I die cut the Hero arts “hello” from some foam, adhered it to the card and added some black enamel dots.

I’ve added this to my Etsy shop which you can see here.

Card – Halloween Is a Magical Season

Hero Arts released some wonderful products for Christmas which I had to appropriate for Halloween! Sizzix has a perfect Mover & Shaper die Bat which fit the theme and the card perfectly. I finished off the edges with some washi tape created by Tim Holtz for Idea-ology.

I have added this to my Etsy shop which you can see here.

The Snuggle is Real

This is a card I made to welcome a new baby.  The stamps are from Reverse Confetti and the idea to recess the baby onesies is from Nina-Marie Trapani.  I went with non-traditional baby colors, using purple, teal and green Ranger Archival Inks for the stamping and Wild Honey Distress Ink for that golden glow.
