Instagram post 2196289247271912319_319460457 In my quest to learn all things mixed media, I have started Tamara Laporte’s “Whimsy Wonderland” course! It’s a five week course that is designed to either help you through the holidays with a little whimsy if these are usually tough times for you or to add more sparkle to your already sparkly holiday vibes. Even though the course started at the end of November you can still jump in at any time! this is my drawing for the first project. The second photo is of my last project that I tweaked a little bit because I wasn’t quite happy with the placement of the word courage. Now I’m happy.😀

Today we did a loose watercolor background and then drew the flowers and leaves right on top! Thankful for art and being able to share it with you – Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

With Alisa Burke we “painted“ our whole page with water and then dropped pigment in with our brush to form the blooms. And, with Tam Laporte, we mostly completed our first Whimsy - I’m sure more details or to come!

I wasn’t able to post yesterday because I tried it using acetate on gessoed paper and it was a disaster! But this technique worked beautifully today - Paper to paper and no gesso.

It’s a free course which is always a great way to learn about an instructor’s style and technique to see if you want to go further and learn more. Today we got down a basic portrait and the beginnings of a background - I got to use at least four different kinds of media!
